IFNY Chairman and Treasurer

Richard A. White is the retired Executive Chairman of the Board of ShelterPoint Life Insurance Company.

Mr. White joined ShelterPoint in 2009 as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors, and led the organization through a period of significant growth and industry leadership. ShelterPoint became the largest insurer of both Disability Benefits Law (DBL) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) insurance in New York State, serving over 1.9 million insured employees.

In 2017, Shelterpoint was named Insurance Team of the Year by Insurance Advocate magazine for its exceptional education of producers and the public regarding New York’s Paid Family Leave laws.

Shelterpoint was acquired by Protective Life in 2024.

With over 40 years in the insurance business, prior to Shelterpoint, Mr. White held positions including, Executive Vice President of Pan American Life, Senior Vice President & Group Profit Center Officer of Guardian Life, and Group Field Vice President with New York Life. He started his career in 1984 with Guardian Life as a Group Sales Representative in St. Louis, Missouri.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska and holds certificates in Marketing Management from Columbia University and in Organizational and Executive Coaching from New York University.

He resides in Colorado with his wife, Paula.
