Nick Secara is a Special Counsel and insurance attorney in the New York City office of Foley & Lardner LLP.  Nick represents investors, start-ups, (re)insurers, MGUs, producers, TPAs and other industry participants in transactional, regulatory and commercial matters.  He counsels across all lines of business, with a focus on L&H and specialty P&C.  His clients receive practical, business-friendly advice, as, prior to joining Foley, Nick served as Deputy General Counsel for Ascot, where he was integral to launching and rapidly scaling its North American platform, which includes – multiple (re)insurance carriers (admitted and surplus lines); an MGU; specialty program business; surety and WC platforms; and a Lloyd’s coverholder.  Nick also has represented clients in high-value coverage and commercial arbitrations and litigations, and has advised on FinTech/InsurTech matters involving blockchain and digital asset development.  Nick co-founded IFNY’s Emerging Leaders, is a member of the NYC Bar Association’s Insurance Law Committee, and is actively involved on boards for other (re)insurance industry organizations in the New York City metropolitan area.
